Will BP's brand be effected down under?

With all that is happening in the Gulf of Mexico we wonder if BP's brand will suffer and how much it would suffer down here in New Zealand.

This screen shot from BP's brand website explains it's brand story and it states 'And we strive to do that by producing energy that is affordable, secure and doesn’t damage the environment" They are obviously not adhering to this statement thus going against their brand.

According to this article, BP's Brand value has plummeted nearly $US1 Billion. There has been some great entries on this Greenpeace website too.

This redesign of the BP logo was done by design company Draplin.

We don't think the brand will be effect too much here in New Zealand because we are a little insulated but globally it has taken a massive hit that will take years to repair.
